Mop-up operations continued Friday to extinguish a brush fire that charred about 200 acres in Kaupulehu.
The fire, which broke out Thursday afternoon in open brush on the makai side of Highway 190, between mile makers 26 and 27, was fully contained Friday evening, according to the Hawaii Fire Department.
Firefighters assisted by water drops from the county helicopters worked throughout Friday to douse hotspots within the burn area. Crews were to remain on scene through the night to monitor area.
